Bay of Plenty Container Party | April 2015

Posted on 8 April 2015

Mainfreight Air & Ocean Tauranga in conjunction with Export Bay of Plenty hosted The Mainfreight Container Party, a hands-on and informative experience around the physical process of exporting. Exporting can be simple if you understand the process. Having an understanding of what happens to your goods once it leaves your hands can be key in developing your business.

The Export Process

Exporters from the Bay of Plenty gathered at our Tauranga depot to see first-hand what happens to their products once the export process starts. It was a great opportunity for exporters to meet the Mainfreight team and get an understanding of the processes, documentation and regulations when exporting from New Zealand.

Interactive Export Displays

NZ Customs and Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) supported the event giving us a hands on interactive demonstration of their processes.

A mixture of visual and practical export process included:

Demonstration of how Swinglift Trucks work and FCL containers placements, weight restrictions and container dimensions

Swinglift Demonstration

Export Documentation requirements, regulations and processes

Air and Ocean Branch Manager Annette Webb

MPI Requirements and NZ Customs X-ray demonstrations

NZ Customs and MPI

Sending cargo by Airfreight, Airline loading requirements

Airline Unit

Physical movement of cargo to/from our Transport depots/Consolidation points

Transport Branch Manager Alan Allport
